Most solar panels convert around 15% of the sun’s energy into electricity.  I don’t think there is any energy getting converted, looks pretty shady to me!

  • Safety is First! Had a seller call us to let us know she really appreciated the way we are diligent in keeping all parties safe during this time of Covid 19. She watched the inspector wipe things down and wash his hands a couple times as well as wearing a mask while performing a buyers inspection at her house.

Jessie performed the home inspection for the house I wish to purchase as a first time home buyer. He began at 1pm and... met us promptly at 4pm to go over his inspection with us. It was a very hot, humid day. He had been climbing on the roof, peering the chimney and gutters, poking around the entire house inside and out, top to bottom, for three hours, and here he was in dress pants and button up shirt -- not sure about a tie, but I think so -- masked and standing at a distance of six feet. He gave me a copy of the report in a three-ring binder, a copy to my realtor, and began swiftly, but not hurried, to professionally and expertly guide us through his impeccably researched findings. So detailed, that report! It's a beautiful thing. So if I end up with that house as my home, I have projects all lined up, and oddly or not, that makes me happy; I feel so much more comfortable knowing what the issues are with the house, what to present to the sellers agent to deal with immediately, what can wait, and about how long the wait can be. The inspector was polite, and he seemed organized. He provided us a folder with printouts of the report, walked us... through the report, etc. However, I am giving a poor rating to Home Standards Inspection Services for overlooking something utterly visually apparent, which ended up costing us a lot of headache and time on the very first day we moved into our new home. I’m attaching a picture here. It is the garbage disposal. You can see that there are several rusty cracks on it. The first time, we used the kitchen sink, this thing started dripping, into the cabinet, to the basement. You can tell by the calcium deposits and rusting along the cracks that those cracks had been there- they were there when the inspection had taken place. The inspector had made a whole disclosure about how they only “visually” inspect; they don’t look behind walls and so on so forth. This was something that should have been visually caught. There was no mention of this issue in the report. Unfortunately, I was a first time home buyer and a bit inexperienced in this realm of things. The garbage disposal could have looked like a banana, and I wouldn’t have known anything was amiss. The inspector, on the other hand, should have known. I was also disappointed that the inspector had met my real estate agent at the location a couple of hours before I had arrived. I was not made aware of that situation. By the time I had arrived, it seemed the real estate was pretty much dictating what to write in the report. I would have much rather have had the inspector work independently for me. Per our appointment, he should have arrived when I was going to arrive. He should have acted more independently. If he wanted to get there early, he should have made me aware. He should not have made arrangements on the side with my real estate agent (yes, I blame the real estate agent as well). Very disappointed. I would not use them again. I do not recommend Home Standards Inspection Services to anyone.read more

Home Standards is the way to go. Jon went through the entire house with me and even went beyond what I expected and... explained how things worked or why it didn't work and other things like that. I am really impressed with the quality of work. I also had questions before and I am sure after. He responded within the day. Very personable and I believe a great price. I also asked to just make sure to watch for specific areas where mold may be an issue because I have had issues with that in the past, more or less water. Of course a mold/moisture test is separate costs and inspection but it was really important to me and he advised there was no indication to him that any issues found were a current issue. We had a great experience with Home Standards Inspection Services. I made the appointment via their website. It was... easy to find a day and time that worked. A confirmation email was sent later with what to expect. On the day of, the inspector sat down with a list of what was inspected and any issues that were discovered with plenty of pictures. He was very clear about what he did, what he saw and what he expected to see. After, he walked us around the house to visually show everything he encountered and then provided us with both a digital and paper copy of the inspection. They were quick to get our new house inspection scheduled and the online payment was fast and easy. Paul was our... inspector, he was very nice and seemed knowledgeable. He pointed out a few minor issues on the house and gave us tips on what we could do to fix them. Luckily there were no major issues and we left happy. Shortly after moving in we found a rotten window in the bedroom. It had obviously not been opened in quite sometime. I contacted Paul and told him about it and also sent pictures. He was very nice on the phone and apologized on missing it. He had us get a quote to fix it and they would cover the cost to repair it. We had Rainbow Glass come out for a quote the guy said it would be a difficult task to repair and new slates would need to be ordered. After several days and phone conversations between our agent, Paul, Jon (vice president) and myself we finally worked out an agreeable arrangement. I am happy with the outcome and I'm glad we picked a small and locally owned reputable company.read more
