Jon Vacha-  I’ve always had the desire to learn how things are built and luckily been in the environment to be able to be taught all about it. During high school and much of college I worked on a flat work concrete crew during the warmer months and helped build houses with my Dad and Uncle during the cooler months. I learned skills and developed technical knowledge during this time, but I believe the most valuable thing I picked up was a healthy work ethic. A sense of pride and accomplishment comes from working hard and doing things right. My Dad always made sure we would take a few minutes at the end of the day to look and reflect on the work we had accomplished during that day.

As a professional home inspector I get the chance to get to know 2 unique houses a day and usually around 4 different people. I could be navigating a 120 year old crawl space on a farm house in Murdock in the morning and then 60 feet off the ground on the roof of a 4500 square foot builder’s brand new model home in the sprawling suburbia of West Omaha in the afternoon. In my spare time I enjoy exercising or working on my house.

  • – Certified Radon Measurement Specialist in Nebraska and Iowa.
  • – President of the Greater Omaha Area ASHI group since 2015

Greetings, my name is David Six. Looking back on my construction experience brings a smile to my face. It came at me out of the blue, but once I started I was thoroughly bitten by the bug. Before the 28th year of my life I couldn’t have told you the difference between a rafter and a joist. The first job was helping a friend tear down a horse barn outside of Lincoln to recycle the lumber. He was an old German finish carpenter and we became partners in a subcontracting firm doing fire and water restorations.

A couple of years later I had the opportunity to begin doing new construction of spec and custom homes, applying the skills I had been taught and learning far more. After a scaffold collapse on the jobsite I was left unable to physically build. I returned to the sales end of things by going to work in commercial building material dept of a big box store. Since then I have sold steel buildings to light commercial, residential, agricultural and equestrian clients and managed all phases of their projects to completion.

So now it has been 25 years and  the next chapter is home inspections. As always, the attraction of working near the construction  industry lives on.   I am committed to doing the best job possible and continuing to learn more to serve the clients.

Personally I am a very hands on type. My passions include automotive (some racing involved), remodeling projects, and spending as much time as possible on the water. I have for the last 30 yrs been an adopter of Labrador Retrievers, Kodiak, Grizzly,  Sasha and Kaiser. Harley is the current four legged trouble maker.  They are my children and spoiled appropriately! I have supported Habitat for Humanity and the Heartland Hope Food Bank when possible, and strongly believe in their missions.

Bridget head

Hello, my name is Bridget Vacha.  I joined the Home Standards team in December of 2015 as their Marketing/Office Director.  I have been in the Real Estate industry for over 6 years now- working in both relocation and mortgages.  That experience has familiarized me with the pace of this industry and the need to be available and efficient fwallyor our clients.

In my free time, I enjoy reading- mostly memoirs and historical fiction- and watching old Hollywood movies from the 1940’s and 50’s.  I love to find new recipes online and try them out on my husband, Jon.  We also like to go out and try new restaurants in Lincoln and travel.  In the last couple of years, we have really gotten into kayaking and try to get out on the water whenever possible.  When I am home, I spend my time spoiling my Chinese Crested dog, Wally, and my 2 cats, Mews and Miss Bitty Kitty Purrs.

Bob Vacha- It is always an honor to be part of people’s lives during key moments, and buying a house is certainly one of those moments.  I like being part of a company that takes those moments seriously and works hard to give our customers useful information.

I built spec houses for 15 years.  I also worked for companies that remodeled kitchens and baths, built additions and finished basements.  It seems like I’ve always had tools in my hands.  That knowledge is helpful when I inspect homes.  Still, it is astonishing how much there is to learn about a house and Home Standards has veteran inspectors who are quick to share information.

My beautiful wife and I live in Omaha and enjoy our home with its many birds, plants, and trees. Megan and I  travel frequently and visit friends and family in Lincoln and all over our lovely country.  We try to spoil our grand kids and hopefully succeed.

I certainly appreciate the opportunity to inspect your home, and will work hard to give you good service.

paul headPaul Pachunka – I started in the construction industry when I was just a teenager, working with my grandfathers construction company over the summers, building homes in rural Nebraska. My father was a big influence as I helped him with remodel projects and the construction of two homes that our family lived in. A little later in life I started a remodeling company with the help of my son, remodeling mainly new kitchens and bathrooms with the occasional purchasing of homes to remodel and sell.

Later in life I ran into a friend that owned a small construction company in Lincoln and accepted his offer to work with them doing everything from building new additions to the simple tasks of a handyman. It was a fun experience and it allowed me the opportunity to move into a project manager position with  the company. As I got older I knew that I could not do such physical work forever, but I still wanted to stay within the construction industry somehow,  which lead me to home inspection.I truly enjoy what I do and feel that it is an important process that helps people have a professional opinion about the state of the property they are negotiating to purchase.   I am very excited to be involved with a company that is progressive in education and has strong ethics and a true passion for the clients we serve.

We have 2 dogs, 5 cats, 22 chickens, 3 ducks, 3 rabbits, and a miniature donkey.  In my spare time, I love planting flowers, cooking, being by the pool, golfing, and quality time with family. We are also die hard Husker fans!

forrest head shotForrest Ruel certified Inspector of residential and commercial real estate for Home Standards Inspection Services. I was personally involved in the military with commercial remodeling of barracks, enlisted man clubs, Plumbing and electrical which I completely enjoyed the ever-changing challenging nature of the work. After the service, I was part of an 8-man construction crew building a 32-unit motel in Nebraska from the ground up afterwards for several years I teamed up with my brother in law roofing, remodeling, painting and home construction.

In the late 1990’s   graduated from real estate appraisal school thinking this would be kinder on the body.  I appraised real estate from lots to million dollar properties, there I also preformed New property cost appraisals from material and labor costs to a finished Certificate of Occupancy including full inspection of progress for contractor draws and final payments.  When the housing market turned downward I chose a new path. Spent several years working commercial property repairs from foundation.  roof, electrical, plumbing and remodeling, running a crew of several workers from labors to master craftsman of all trades related to construction.

A few years ago, I decided to certify as a home and commercial inspector working for myself and other companies, I now enjoy the team of Home Standards Inspection Services. I couldn’t be happier; this company has values and integrity all qualities I respect.

I enjoy the real estate market, inspecting residential and commercial properties.

No inspection is too small or to large.

Jessie Head Shot editedHello, my name is Jessie Fisher. I feel honored to be able to use my knowledge to assist people through in the home buying process. I have 6 years experience working in the construction of commercial and residential properties as a flooring installer. During that time I gained a variety of skills and knowledge applicable to inspection of homes. Growing up on a farm in rural Nebraska, I gained a working knowledge of mechanics and construction at an early age. In addition to being a farmer, my father was also contractor. When we weren’t busy with farm duties, my brothers and I spent a considerable amount of time assisting with construction projects. I learned hands on the skills and knowledge involved in home remodeling. In high school I spend two summers installing and repairing the roofs on homes in the wake of a bad hail storm. Having a lifelong passion for the visual arts, I was an art teacher for 3 years. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art, along with my K-12 certification from UNO. Prior to that, I also earned my Associates Degree in graphic design.

My hobbies include, making art (ceramics, sculpture, painting, printmaking, photography), playing guitar, camping and hiking. I enjoy taking my son to explore parks and museums in the area, and teaching him new things. Being a home inspector allows me the opportunity to view beautiful area homes, meet interesting new people, and be of assistance to people at pivotal transition in their lives.
